PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Global convergence and sincere efforts are needed to avert a looming humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan, says the Pakistan army chief.
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa made the remarks at a meeting with Rear Admiral Mohammad Yousaf Al Asam, commander of Royal Bahrain Naval Force.
During the meeting at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Gen, Bajwa underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.
A statement from the army’s media wing said the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan situation and in regional stability.
Matters of mutual interest, the current security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation in defence and security fields were discussed.
