ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Officials in eastern Kunar province say the fight against corruption is a government priority and Pajhwok Afghan News’ efforts and investigative reports in this regard are commendable.
On December 15, Pajhwok published a report that four solar energy parks, costing 92 million afs, had been implemented in violation of the contract by the Baldtak Engineering Construction Company (BECC).
Officials in in the eastern province praised Pajhwok’s report and said the fight against corruption was a government priority.
Maulvi Najibullah Hanif, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok the fight against corruption was a priority of the provincial administration and efforts would be stepped up to arrest those involved in the svourge.
“Fighting corruption is the common responsibility of all. We thank Pajhwok for releasing reports on corruption and informing the public about graft,” he said.
Pajhwok revealed in its investigative report that under the agreement the company should have used Indian spare parts. But instead, it used low-quality Chinese materials.
Maulvi Najibullah promised based on Pajhwok’s report on the solar power networks, perpetrators of corruption would be identified and brought to justice.
