PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s economic instability will benefit terrorists, which will be catastrophic for the world, says the governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Chaudhry Sarwar, addressing an event in Lahore on Tuesday, urged the US to unfreeze the frozen assets of the war-devastated country.
The governor asked the Biden administration to provide unconditional assistance to Afghans, who might starve to death due to economic instability.
Pakistan was doing all it could for bringing peace to Afghanistan and providing basic facilities to the Afghan people, he added.
“Lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan will benefit not only Pakistan and the region but the whole world,” Sarwar said.
The US and its allies, including NATO, had been unable to defeat the Taliban, the governor said, asking the world to realise that war was not a solution to conflict.
As the Afghan leadership also desired peace, the international community should help the Afghans financially. Sarwar argued.
