Old banknotes worth 1.7 billion afs torched: DAB

KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) collected and torched old banknotes worth 1.7 billion afghanis in 2021, an official said on Thursday.

DAB spokesperson Haseeb Noori said the collection of the old banknotes was still underway. He asked the people to take care of banknotes.

This comes as people often complain of the circulation of old banknotes in the market.

They say worn-out banknotes cause them problems and disputes during transactions.
