US still engaged in intelligence war on Afghanistan: Stanekzai

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s deputy foreign minister has said that the US and its allies are still engaged in an intelligence and propaganda war against Afghanistan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Stanekzai made the remarks at a meeting in Gardez, the capital of southeastern Paktia province, attended by local government officials, tribal elders and the general public.

Referring to the current situation and problems in the country, Stanekzai said that although the Americans had been defeated militarily, they were still engaged in an intelligence, economic and propaganda war against Afghanistan.

Stanekzai called on officers of the previous government not to migrate to abroad and to work with the new administration for reconstruction of their country.

He said the security situation in the country was now better and there were more working opportunity available for people than ever before.

There are currently some big and small economic and administrative problems, but these problems would be solved gradually, he added.

Paktia Governor Mohammad Ali Jan Mohammadi who was also present in the meeting said those who had worked under the previous regime were safe and no one could threaten or endanger their lives.

He said that all Afghans need to work in all institutions and they can work in government institutions without any fear.

All civil and military institutions in Paktia are operational, with hundreds of people visiting them daily, he added.

Stanekzai during his trip also visited some civil and military institutions in Paktia province.
