KABUL (Pajhwok): The government on Wednesday declared an emergency situation in the country due to heavy snowfall.
Bilal Karimi, the government’s spokesman, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News declaration of the emergency situation.
He said: “The Ministries of Disaster Management and Public Works are preparing to clear roads in all parts of the country.”
Contracts are being signed with various companies on clearing roads in areas where there are problems and citizens face difficulties.”
He added under the instructions given to the agencies concerned, food, clothing and medicine had been delivered to calamity-prone areas. Essential items have been distributed in some places.
The authorities were trying to intensify the distribution of these items so that the ongoing snowfall did not cause problems to the people, Karimi continued.
