KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has rejected reports about a clash between Afghan and Turkmen boarder forces in the Khamab district of northern Jawzjan province.
On Monday, Pajhwok Afghan News quoted Jawzjan Director of Information Hilal Balkhi as saying Taliban forces clashed with Turkmen border guards after the burial of a district resident.
He said the Turkmen forces had killed an Afghan civilian and beaten another three days ago. The Taliban forces, visiting the border to investigate the situation, faced a military response from the Turkmen guards.
But Inamullah Samangani, the government’s deputy spokesman, tweeted on Tuesday night: “There is no problem between us and Turkmenistan. Reports about the clash are incorrect.”
He wrote Afghanistan wanted constructive and positive relations with all countries of the world, including Turkmenistan, and sought to resolve issues, if aby, through diplomatic channels.
