PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has dispatched a team of engineers and technicians to Afghanistan for the early completion of three new hospitals to provide relief to the Afghans.

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination announced this at a meeting of the Afghanistan Inter-ministerial Coordination Cell (AICC) on Tuesday.

The meeting was informed that buildings for the hospitals in Jalalabad, Kabul and Pul-i-Alam had been completed. But installation and commissioning of medical equipment worth Rs2 billion is still ongoing.

A team of four Pakistani engineers, accompanied by technicians, is working round the clock to complete the installation process.

“This would help achieve universal health coverage in our brotherly neighbouring country,” said a press release issued after the meeting.

The initiative is part of a Rs5 billion humanitarian assistance package for Afghanistan announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
