Gold prices increased by over 13pc in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of sugar, rice, tea, cooking oil and gold have increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Zamarai Safi, head of Kabul Traders Union, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the wholesale price of 49 kilograms of Indian sugar increased from 3,100 to 3,200 afghanis, and 24.5 kilograms of Pakistani rice ranged from 2,500 to 2,600 afghanis, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil has increased from 2,750 to 2,800 afghanis and a kilogram of African black tea from 400 to 450 afghanis this week.

However, he said that today, the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour is 2,400afs and a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 400afs, the same rates as last week.

Hamid Sufizadah, a retailer in Kabul, said that today the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour was 2,450afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,650afs, and the price of 49kgof Indian sugar was 3,250afs, a tin of 16 liters of cooking oil 2,850afs. A kilogram of Indonesian green tea costs 450afs and the same quantity of African black tea 500afs, he said.

Gold price increased by 13.6 percent.

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Maryam area of Kabul, said one gram of Arabian gold increased from 3,750 to 4,650afs and the same quantity of Russian variety increased from 3,550 to 3,650afs.

Fuel prices remain steady.

A worker of Ahmadyar Group Fuel Station said that the price of a liter of petrol was 78afs and the price of a liter of diesel 71afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a gas seller in Kulula Pushta area of Kabul, says that today, the price of a kilogram of the commodity was remained steady at 82afs.

Afghani currency depreciates one afghani against US dollar.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada market, said that one US dollar was accounted for 104afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 550afs compared to last week’s 103afs and 530afs respectively.
