Students among 8 killed in Nangarhar blast

KABUL (Pajhwok): Eight people, including seven school students, were killed and three others injured when unexploded ordnance went off in front of a school in the Lalpura district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday.

The blast happened at around 10:00am in the Warsak locality in front of a school, said District Administrative Chief Qari Abu Bakar.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Someone installed a popcorn stall in front of a school where a child brought an unexploded ordinance to him and the device went off as he hit it to the ground.”

He said the staller and seven school students were killed while three others injured as a result of the blast.

Health sources also confirmed three injured children had been brought to the Nangarhar Zonal Hospital from the site of the blast.

Nangarhar Security Spokesperson Abdul BaseerZabuli confirmed the blast but did not provide details.
