Taekwondo Federation chief rescued, 8 suspects held

KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Taekwondo Federation chief has been rescued from kidnappers and eight suspects have been detained, the government said on Saturday.

Najibullah Sikandar had gone missing in Kabul on Tuesday evening.

Zabihullah Mujahid, government spokesman, tweeted that security personnel rescued Sikandar from kidnappers in Khoshal Khan area.

He wrote eight individuals had been arrested on charges of kidnapping the Taekwondo Federation head.

Bashir Tarakai, coach of the taekwondo team, confirmed to Pajhwok the release of Sikandar. He hailed the security forces’ efforts for rescuing the taekwondo chief.
