Tribal elder shot dead in Faryab, 2 suspects detained

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a tribal elder in northern Faryab province, an official said on Saturday.

Maulvi Shamsullah Mohammadi, director of information and culture, said Mullah Abdullah was killed by unknown gunmen in the Lash village of Lolash district.

He called personal enmity the motive behind the murder and said two individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Hasibullah, son of the 62-year-old victim, said his father was gunned down while preparing for Juma prayers.

He added his father had no enmity with any individual or group.
