KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Journalists Centre has urged authorities in northern Balkh province to conduct a serious investigation into the arson incident in the office of Rabia Balkhi Radio Office and share the outcome with media outlets.
According to the report, a fire erupted in the Rabia Balkhi Radio Office two nights ago in which office equipment and furniture were completely burned and two children died.
The office was situated in the third floor of six-storey building in the third police district of Mazar-i-Sharif City. According to police, the incident happened as a result of electrical fault in the radio system.
In a statement, the AJC said the identity of victims could not identify, but according to other sources, the children were in another apartment of the building and died due to suffocation.
“Expressing its sadness on the incident, which resulted in the death of two children and the destruction of Rabaa Balkhi Radio’s administrative items and equipment, the AJC calls on the local administration to seriously follow up on the incident and investigate the results and let know about the investigation result.”
