KABUL (Pajhwok): The intelligence agency says security forces have discovered two caches of weapons and ammunition belonging to warlord Alipur in the Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province.
Light and heavy weapons, a military motorcycle, cameras, grenades, thousands of bullets and ammunition were recovered from the hideouts.
In a series of tweets, the spy network said the arms and ammunition were seized during an operation by the special unit of the intelligence department.
Abdul Ghani Alipur, an illegal commander, was accused of looting, extortions, torture and murder by the former government.
He was arrested by ex-intelligence agents in Kabul on November 25, 2018. His detention sparked violent protests by the Hazara community in Kabul, Bamyan, Daikundi, Herat and Balkh provinces.
Alipur’s loyalists reportedly shot down a Ministry of Defence helicopter in the Behsud district of Maidan Wardak on March 19 last year.
Alipur’s whereabouts remain unknown.
