KABUL (Pajhwok): Work on the second phase of the Kajaki Dam in southern Helmand province is underway and its hydropower generation capacity will surge to 150 megawatts in March, an official said on Tuesday.
Upon its construction back in 1975, the dam started generating 33 megawatts of power with the installation of the first and third turbines.
Work on the second phase of the dam is currently underway to improve its power generation capacity to 150 megawatts.
