Pakistani NSA to arrive in Kabul tomorrow

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yusuf will arrive in Kabul on Tuesday for discussions on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

During the two-day trip on Jan. 18-19, the two sides are expected to focus on boosting cooperation in health and higher education sectors, humanitarian aid and greater trade links.

Yusuf will head a high-level delegation that has been tasked with evaluating the on-ground situation and development needs of the Afghan people, officials say.

The fencing of the Durand Line, which tensions between the neighbours in recent weeks, may also come up for discussions.

The NSA heads the Afghanistan Inter-Ministerial Coordination Cell (AICC) to channel Pakistan’s humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghanistan.

Pakistan has been facilitating aid to Afghanistan through international organisations, particularly the UN and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
