Faizabad child mistakenly shot dead by security forces

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Security personnel have mistakenly shot dead a child during a search for a criminal in northeastern Badakhshan province.

Information Director Maazuddin Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened in Faizabad, the provincial capital, where the security forces were searching for a criminal.

“The mujahidin mistakenly shot dead a child during the search operation for a criminal in Faizabad,” he added.

The security official, who gunned down the child, is in custody and will be referred to relevant authorities for investigations.

Findings of the probe would be shared with the media, the official promised.
