Less fortunate orphans provided winter aid in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Four hundred destitute families and orphaned children have been distributed food, winter and hygiene kits in southeastern Khost province.

The aid was distributed by Khair Welfare Orgnaisation under the Children Protection project with the financial support from UNECIF.

Abdul Matin Khyber, head of the Khair Welfare Organisation, said the aid included winter kits, shoes, socks, underwears, jackets, scarfs, gloves, caps and coats.

He said through a transparent survey these orphans and less fortunate families were identified and provided with aid.

“Under the children protection scheme we try to provide protection to children by stopping them from hard labour by offering these children with economic support and other cooperation.”

Khost Economy Director Shahzad participated in the aid distribution event and stressed over close coordination between welfare organization and government.

He said: “We call upon all organizations that the government will provide you support in distribution of aid to people, you will face no problem and could do your work conformably.”

Nabil, one of the orphans who received the aid, said: “My father is not alive to buy winter outfit for me. I thank this organization for providing me with winter kits. We had nothing in the winter,” he said.
