KABUL (Pajhwok): Baz Mohammad Mubarez has resigned as president of Afghanistan All Martial Arts Federation (AAMAF) for what he called administrative problems in the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.

Mubarez, who has been AAMAF president for the last three years, linked his resignation to an “atmosphere of restrictions” and “management problems” following last year’s political change in the country.

In a post on his Facebook page, he alleged the administration interfered in affairs of the federations in violation of all national and international norms, and implemented its plans without informing the federation.

The federations were independent legal entities and interfering in their affairs was against rules, Mubarez said, adding more details about his resignation would be made public in near future.

Mubarez said he remained committed to serving his people and country in every possible way. As in the past, he will appear in international matches and bring more honors to the country.

Some athletes, particularly female players, have left Afghanistan in the wake of the Taliban’s takeover. The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports and the National Olympic Committee have not yet commented on his resignation.
