Helmand cow farm owner distributes milk to poor people

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Owner of a cow farm, Haji Sardar Wali, distributes dairy product free of cost to poor people in southern Helmand province.

Haji Sardar Wali told Pajhwok Afghan News he has been running the farm since last 10 years and used to distribute an average of 135 kilograms of milk free of cost to the poor people every day.

He said he kept cows from different countries in his farm and people from all over the country came and buy them from him.

He said the main source of income from the farm was selling and purchase of cows and there was no standard processing center for dairy products in the province so he distributed the dairy products to poor people free of cost.

He added people from Ghazni, Kunduz, Kabul and many other provinces came to his farm to purchase cows.

He asked the government to help him with diary processing and cows feeding.

Atta Mohammad, a resident of Bost Qala area, said poor people daily gather in front of Sardar Wali’s farm and receive milk free of cost.

Maulvi Hameed, director of agriculture, acknowledged problems of farm owners and said the department was striving to establish a standard dairy processing center.
