FIROZKOH/CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Local officials on Thursday said hundreds of needy families in Ghor and Parwan provinces received cash aid and other essential items.

Mulavi Mohammad Ibrahim Mia, refugees and repatriation director in Parwan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) distributed cash assistance to 295 needy families in Kuh-i-Safi district of Parwan province.

He said each of the needy families who were previously surveyed received 32,000 afghanis from the organization.

Two days ago, the organization also provided financial assistance to 246 families in Shinwari and Bagram districts and capital of Parwan province.

According to another report, 100 tons of coal was distributed to needy families and seminaries in western Ghor province.

Mulavi Abdul Wahed Hamas, Ghor governor’s spokesman, said that Noor Omaid Company, which started extraction of coalmines in the province, was appreciated for its work and 100 families and madrasas were distributed with coal to help them in the cold winter.

“By extracting coal, in addition to employing a number of people, the needs of people will continue to be met and the price of fuel, especially coal, will be reduced,” he said.

On the other hand, a number of people who have received the aid appreciated the efforts of local officials in the province.

“We thank the authorities who helped us and provided us coal today, and we thank them for working and extracting the coal mine to solve the problems of people, when our mines are extracted, the problems of our people in terms of purchasing fuel materials will be solved to some extent.”

At the same time, the officials of the contractual company say that they are doing their best to extract the coal, so that they can extract it professionally and well and make it available to the people.

They said that the coal being extracted had a high quality and can help provide fuel for most people of the province.
