ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Education Department in eastern Kunar province says 500 classrooms have been established for 15,000 rural children who were out of schools.
Mohibullah Haidari, director of education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the classrooms were opened with financial support of Save the Children Fund in Sarkano, Marawara, Shegal, Asmar, Ghaziabad, Watapoor, Manogi and Asadabad city.
Haidari said in these 500 classrooms, 5,174 boys and 9,836 girls would be enrolled from 1st to 3rd grade.
Abdul Basir, a resident Marawara district and a tribal elder, said these children were unable to go to school due to long distance.
Rassoul Mohammad, head of the youth council, said the children were deprived of education but now a suitable environment was ensured for their education near their homes.
