KABUL (Pajhwok): Fourteen women prisoners have been released from a women prison in Kabul after their cases were evaluated by a government delegation, the Prisons Affairs Department said on Friday.
A five-member delegation appointed to investigate the cases of the detainees released 14 women from the Kabul Women’s Prison where they were held for various crimes, the department said in a statement.
Maulvi Abdul Haq, Deputy Minister for Counter Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), who is also a member of the delegation, wrote: “We have collected evidence, investigated their cases thoroughly and accurately and released these female prisoners who were accused and arrested for various crimes.”
According to him, all the courts in the capital and provinces have been tasked to give priority to the investigation of cases of female prisoners.
The released prisoners vowed they would not indulge in activities that violated law and order and disrupted public order.
Two days ago, the government released 14 women prisoners from Pul-e-Charkhi prison.
