PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Prime Minister Imran Khan says Pakistan and China should work together to promote peace, stability and development in Afghanistan.
At a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang in Beijing on Saturday, Khan said the Sino-Pak partnership would strengthen regional connectivity.
Afghanistan also figured prominently at Khan’s meeting with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the Beijing Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
While reiterating Pakistan’s stout support to the Trans-Afghan railway project, the Pakistani premier shared views on next steps in taking it forward over the coming months.
Both leaders agreed that a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan was vital for regional stability and realisation of infrastructure and connectivity projects.
The two sides underlined the need for continued economic and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan by the international community to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
