KABUL (Pajhwok): The central bank has torched old currency notes worth 600 million afghanis in the presence of senior officials.
Abdul Qadir Ahmad, deputy director of central bank, told Pajhwok Afghan News the old banknotes had been set on fire under Articles 39 and 42 of the Da Afghanistan Bank Law.
He said it was the second time in a month that worn-out banknotes had been set alight.
He called on the people to pay attention to the safety of banknotes in trade and other transactions.
