KABUL (Pajhwok): Former State Minister for Peace Affairs Salam Rahimi has arrived in Kabul and met with officials of the caretaker government at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.
Rahimi and some other officials of the former government fled to different countries in August 2021 after the previous government was collapsed and replaced by the current caretaker government.
Abdul Salam Rahimi, former State Minister for Peace Affairs and a member of the peace delegation, has returned to Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement said that acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting AmrBilMaruf and Nahi Anil Munkar minister Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al Hanafi and a member of peace delegation and AnasHaqqani welcomed Abdul Salam Rahimi to the country.
The source added that Amir Khan Muttaqi welcomed Rahimi to Afghanistan and assured him of a dignified life in his home country.
Muttaqi also expressed concern over the living conditions of Afghans living in camps abroad and hoped that Afghans living in foreign countries would return to their homeland.
"Difference of opinion is a natural issue and the Islamic Emirate respects it, but religion and homeland common values and working for Afghanistan is the goal of every Afghan,” he said.
Abdul Salam Rahimi talking to the meeting said, "I am glad to be back in my country and the positive change that has come with the new government is commendable.”
Rahimi said the new government of Afghanistan has kept things running smoothly and there were currently no serious threats inside and outside against the country.
