PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The supply of India-donated wheat and medicine to Afghanistan through Pakistan will begin on February 22.

Islamabad and New Delhi have sorted out issues and finalised plans for shipping 50,000 tonnes of wheat to the war-devastated country.

Pakistan and India have been in negotiations for the last three months on transporting the wheat aid to Afghanistan.

Following lengthy discussions, the two sides managed to resolve differences on how to deliver the assistance, a media report said on Sunday.

While rejecting the condition of Indian trucks carrying the wheat from Wagah border to Afghanistan, Pakistan agreed to let Afghan vehicles serve the purpose.

The News International quoted diplomatic sources as saying that India had handed a list of 60 Afghan trucks and their drivers to Pakistani authorities.

The wheat and medicines would be transported to Jalalabad and handed over to the World Food Programme, the newspaper added.
