KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says representatives of European Union have hinted at allocating $11 million for Afghanistan’s education sector.
In a statement, the MoFA said a delegation of the caretaker government and EU representatives met in the capital of Qatar late on Tuesday.
The humanitarian crisis and the state of health and education in Afghanistan were discussed at the meeting. Information and suggestions were also shared.
The visiting Afghan team asked the EU to resume assistance for the education sector and provide internet services for students so that they could pursue online studies.
The EU representatives citied the allocation of $11 million for the Afghan education sector and said: “Considering the situation, we want to increase aid in areas of education and health.”
In response to the concerns raised by EU envoys, the Afghan side reaffirmed its commitment to the rights of society, and hoped the Afghans living abroad would return to their homeland and use their talents and skills for the development of the country.
