KHOST CITY/GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Over 200 less fortunate families have been provided with food items in southeastern Khost and Paktia provinces by the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), an official said on Wednesday.
Aid package included a 50-kilogram bag of flour, 24 kilograms bag of rice, 10 litres cooking oil, seven-kilogram beans, seven-kilogram pulses, two-kilogram salt, and one-kilogram green tea.
“A German charity organization Peace Village provided the assistance. We arranged the list of 1,000 less fortunate families to provide them with aid,” he said.
Mufti Zainulabdeen, head of the ARCS in Khost, said efforts were on to identify less fortunate persons through a transparent manner.
Separately, 1,000 individuals were provided with food items in Paktia province.
Mohammad Tabib Mubarak, head of the ARCS for Paktia, said less fortunate families from different parts of the province were provided with aid items.
He said each family was provided eight types of food items worth $100.
The aid was provided by the German charity organization Village of Peace, he added.
