KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan-Bangladesh One-Day International series begins in Chattogram on Wednesday (Feb. 23).
The three-match series is part of the ICC ODI Super League. The matches are scheduled for February 23, 25 and 27 in Chattogram.
Afghan cricketers, playing for different franchises that are partaking in league competitions in Pakistan, India and other countries, are ready to prove their worth in the series against Bangladeshi.
To outplay the opposition, Afghanistan will rely on their spin bowlers, including Rashid Khan, Mujib Ur Rahman and Qais Ahmad.
On the other hand, Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar insists the Tigers are fully confident going into the series. He says they have devised a strategy to blunt Afghanistan’s spin attack.
“Afghanistan have world-class spinners like Rashid and Mujeeb. Afghanistan are also a good side in the white-ball format,” he acknowledged.
The hosts were also a stable squad that was prepared for the ODI series, The Daily Star quoted the selector as saying.
“The tracks at Chattogram have been batting-friendly. We will know more when we get there,” the selector noted.
