KABUL (Pajhwok): Women in capital Kabul on Monday protested in front of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to condemn US president Joe Biden’s decision regarding Afghanistan reserves.
Earlier, President Joe Biden has moved to freeze about $7bn in assets held in US financial institutions by the Afghan central bank in the wake of the Taliban takeover, as he vowed to direct $3.5bn to humanitarian aid and preserve the rest for families of victims of the September 11 terror attacks.
ShogofaNijat, head of the Afghanistan Solidarity Caravan, said President Biden’s decision regarding Afghanistan reserves was cruel, unfair and they condemn it.
She termed US military presence in Afghanistan as occupation and said: “The US government should compensate the people of Afghanistan not Afghans should be forced to compensate the Americans.”
ShamsiaHasanzada, another participant of the rally, also condemned US president decision regarding Afghanistan’s reserves and asked the UN to join Afghanistan and defend the war affected nation of Afghanistan.
In a resolution the rally passed at the end asked UN, international organisations and the people of US to support the people of Afghanistan in getting their rights.
