KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Energy and Water on Tuesday warned people against visiting river banks, saying there was a threat of a surge in water levels.
In a statement, the ministry said based on expert predictions, heavy rainfall and flooding was expected in the northern part of the country in Murghab, Harirud, Helmand and Kabul rivers.
The statement warned of flash floods in Samangan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Badghis, Ghor, Herat, Farah, Helmand, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Kabul and Panjsher provinces, as well as Ghorband valley.
The ministry asked residents of these provinces to refrain from going close to the rivers.
