GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A mobile team health service to serve mother-child health kicked off in five districts of southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Wednesday.
The scheme is being implemented with support of UNICEF in far-flung area where people don’t have access to basic health facilities.
UNICEF Representative in Paktia Bismillah Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Mobile teams will provide health service to mother-child in Dand-i-Patan, Chamkani, ZaziAryub, Syed Karam and Shawak districts under this scheme.”
The health teams will address mother-child health issues, vaccination program, child feeding and mothers psychological issues.
Khoshal said the scheme is designed in line with the condition and situation in the far-flung areas.
He said tens of health officials in five teams will carry out the scheme. Half of the health workers in this scheme were women.
Paktia Deputy Health Director Qari Abdul Karim Pason said: “We thank institutions that provide health services to masses in far-flung areas. We cooperate with them in the implementation of such schemes.”
He said Paktia was a mountainous province and some people in far-flung areas lacked access to basic health facilities.
