PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan army claims 10 suspected terrorists have been killed during an operation in southwestern Balochistan province.
Wednesday’s operation was conducted by security forces to apprehend “externally sponsored enemies of peace” in the province, the military’s media wing said.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was based on information regarding the presence of a terrorist camp and hideout in Hoshab area.
It added: “Once the troops started cordoning the area, the terrorists tried to flee their hideout and opened indiscriminate fire.”
Ten terrorists, including their commander Master Asif, were killed in the exchange of fire, the ISPR statement said.
The insurgents were blamed for involvement in recent firing incidents and attacks on security forces in Turbat and Pasni.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered, which was planned for use against security forces, the ISPR claimed.
