Veteran Baloch nationalist leader dies in car crash

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A veteran Baloch nationalist leader has died in a road accident near the Bahawalpur city of Punjab province.

National Democratic Party (NDP) president Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch met the accident on his way from Quetta to Lahore on Friday.

The 77-year-old initially suffered serious injuries when his car ploughed into a trailer. He breathed his last on the way to hospital.

Dan reported the driver and another man travelling in the car were also wounded in the mishap near Jalalpur Peerwala on the Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5).

Dr Hayee’s son Changez Baloch said his father had left Quetta on Thursday to attend a public meeting of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party in Hyderabad.

He served as a member of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) and the Senate from Balochistan.
