KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Spinboldak-Chaman crossing which was closed a couple of days ago due to a clash between Afghan and Pakistani security forces has been reopened, an official said on Sunday.
Kandahar Governor Spokesperson MawlaviMahmoodAzzam told Pajhwok Afghan News the crossing was reopened on Sunday.
“Officials from both sides held talks over the reopening of the crossing and both sides decided to reopen the crossing in the best interest of the people on both sides,” he said. He, however, said talks to resolve the dispute will continue.
Kandahar Chamber of Commerce Head Eng. Abdul Qaqi also confirmed to Pajhwok the reopening of the gate on Sunday morning.
Haji Salahuddin, a businessman, said the crossing was reopened and people have started movement as usual.
Earlier, three people were killed and 28 others injured as a result of heavy firefight between Pakistani and Afghan security personnel. The clash led to the closure of the busy Spinboldak-Chaman crossing.
