KABUL (Pajhwok): European Union Ambassador von Brandt called for an immediate end to the house-to-house search operation in Kabul.
Brandt tweeted: “The intimidation, house searches, arrests and violence against members of different ethnic groups and women are crimes and must stop immediately.”
He wrote: “Despite Putin’s war, we are watching you!”
But Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and spokesman for the government, hailed the massive operation as a success.
Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, Mujahid said the searches were aimed to arrest criminals, including those who were freed after the collapse of the previous government.
