250 crime suspects arrested in Balkh in six months: Police

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Police have arrested 250 people in connection with various crimes during the past six month in northern Balkh province,  an official said on Wednesday.

Balkh Police Chief Maulvi Matiullah Saifullah told a press conference in Mazar-e-Sharif that security forces arrested these crime suspects in different parts of the province.

He added that the detainees included members of ISIS and the Resistance Front, as well as kidnappers, robbers and others.

Saifullah assured security in Balkh and said that all security forces in the province were working around the clock to ensure the safety of the people.

"We will not allow anyone to disturb the security of the people and if anyone does so, they will be dealt with severely according to Sharia," he said. He called on the people to cooperate with the government in arresting criminals.

On the other hand, some residents of Balkh praised the efforts of security officials and said that the security situation in the province has improved compared to the past.
