MAIMANA/QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): One community representative and a woman were killed in separate incidents in northwestern Faryab and Badghis provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
Faryab Information Director Maulvi Shamsuddin told Pajhwok Afghan News undefined gunmen shot dead Haji Abdul Momin, a community representative, in Maimana.
Going home from a mosque in 4th police district after offering his evening prayers, he was attacked by armed motorcyclists, the director added.
Security officials have launched a search for the killers and an investigation into the incident.
Separately, a woman was killed by her son in the Aab-i-Kamari district of Badghis province, Information Director Baz Mohammad Sarwari said.
“A dispute between the son and his father turned violent. As a result, the son wanted to fire at hit his father. However, he killed his mother unintentionally,” he said.
The murderer managed to flee the area, Sarwari said without going into details of the incident.
