KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation says flights between Afghanistan and Russia will resume in near future.
Imamuddin Ahmadi, spokesman for MoTA, told Pajhwok Afghan News that two days ago, representatives of Afghanistan and Russia discussed the resumption of flights between the two countries.
He said the talks took place between Transport and Aviation Minister Mullah HamidullahAkhundzadeh and the Russian envoy, and that flights between the two countries are likely to resume in the near future.
Earlier, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported that representatives of the two countries in Kabul discussed the resumption of flights.
Representatives of Afghanistan and Russia discussed resumption of flights at a time when Russia's relations with Western countries, especially the United States, have recently deteriorated over the Ukraine issue.
