Narrowness of Jalalabad-Torkham road blamed for accidents

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Some residents of eastern Nangarhar and drivers on Jalalabad-Torkham highway blame narrowness of the road for most accidents.

Azizullah, a resident of Ghanikhel district of Nangarhar, said mostly traffic accidents took place due to the narrowness of the highway.

He said the government should talk to Pakistan so that the country implements its promises regarding building of the highway.

Maulvi Yar Mohammad, public work director for Nangarhar, said Pakistani officials had promised to complete the construction of the road.

He said if Pakistani officials did not resume construction of the road, they would themselves start the work on it.

On the other hand, Pakistan ambassador Mansour Khan during his trip to Nangarhar said that work on the road would begin soon.
