PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): New Delhi has dispatched the third consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan.
As part of humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, India’s wheat is being transported to the war-hit country via Pakistan’s land route.
The dispatch of the third consignment of wheat was announced on Tuesday by a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi.
Arindam Bagchi tweeted: “Today, the third convoy of India’s humanitarian assistance carrying 2000 MT of wheat left for Jalalabad.”
India sent 2,500 metric tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan through Pakistan on February 22 — followed by a second consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes.
The spokesman wrote; “This is a part of India’s commitment of 50,000 MTs of wheat which will be distributed by @WFP Afghanistan.”
