110 couples tie the knot at mass wedding in Helmand

LASHKARGHA (Pajhwok): At a mass wedding, sponsored by Selab charity foundation, as many as 110 couples tied the knot in southern Helmand province.

Haji Sayed Ahmad Selab, head of the Selab charity foundation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a number of businessmen also finically supported the wedding.

“The ceremony was held for poor couples who had engaged several years ago and could not marry due to poverty,” he added.

He said each couple was also given a washing machine, a sewing machine, cloths and cosmetics.

He added they also paid the relatives of the couple for the meals of the ceremony.

However, Selab did not reveal the amount of money spent on the mass wedding.
