GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A number of journalists, who recently lost their jobs, have started poultry business in southern Ghazni province.

RahmatullahMarjankhel, who worked with different media outlets as journalist and producer, is one of the journalists who turned to poultry business to make a living.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News when he lost job he was forced to start his own business to make a living for his family.

He added: “However I had no experience, I bought 150 hens after consulting with some friends so that I can sell eggs in the market and make a living.”

He added he spent 50,000 afghans and hoped that his business would be profitable.

Marjankhel said he was not happy over losing his job but he was optimistic that he had a work at least.

He called on other youth who lost their jobs that they should be patient and start small business. He asked donor agencies to help him with his business.

Mohammad Ibrahim Amiri, another journalist of Ghazni, who worked in different media outlets, had also started poultry business. Media supporting organizations did not assist them, he grumbled.

Gullabuddin Amiri, head of the Journalist Safety Committee in Ghazni, acknowledged the journalists’ issues and said the committee was working on a plan to resolve the issues of all journalists.

Mansour Afghan, deputy director of information and culture, said many journalists had lost their jobs recently and were suffering from financial crisis.

He said they had talked to the governor house and donor agencies to assist those journalists who were jobless.
