KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has announced slapping sanctions on nearly a dozen Russian defence officials, as the invasion of Ukraine continues.
The State Department announced the imposition of sanctions on 11 Russians, including heads of the National Guard, Russian Federal Service on military-technical cooperation, Rosoboronexport and eight deputy defence ministers.
A statement from the State Department said: “The world has watched in horror as Russia has perpetrated a premeditated, unprovoked and unjustified attack on Ukraine…”
It added: “Today, the Department of State is continuing to impose severe costs on Russian defense leaders.”
The sanctions mean a freeze on all assets in the US and a ban on American individuals and firms having business with them, the statement noted.
