25 couples tie the knot at mass wedding in Bamyan

BAMYAN (Pajhwok): A charity organization “Imam Sajjad Charity” has organized a mass wedding of 25 young couples in central Bamyan province.

Mehdi Behzad, head of the Imam Sajjad Charitable Foundation in Bamyan, said some of the couples participating in the mass wedding were engaged for about six years, but failed to marry due to poverty.

According to him, after a lot of efforts, the foundation managed to hold the mass wedding at a lowest cost.

“Holding the ceremony, the foundation gave cloths and 3,000 afghanis to each couple.”

Kamela Sadaat, one of the brides, said that she was grateful to the organizers of the program who organized the wedding for her and her husband at the lowest cost.

“Holding a low-cost mass wedding is a good example in our traditional society,” said Seyed Hossein Hosseini, one of the grooms at the event.

According to him, bad customs and traditions and huge expenses on wedding ceremonies are a big obstacle to young people getting married.
