PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A two-day meeting of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan joined the OIC foreign ministers’ session, which commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received his counterparts from the main Muslim bloc on their arrival at the Parliament House.
Addressing the inaugural session, Prime Minister Khan shone a light on Pakistan’s role in and contribution to OIC. He also spotlighted the challenges facing the Muslim world today.
The gathering, among other topics, will confer on developments in Afghanistan and their humanitarian consequences for the Afghans.
During the summit, the OIC foreign ministers will also discuss developments in Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, and other regions.
