FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Wrestling competitions have kicked off in northwestern Badakhshan province amid the beginning of the new solar year.
Thousands of viewers reached the ground of wrestling competitions held in the Sang Mehar Ground of Faizabad City, the provincial capital.
Haji Shokrullah, the in-charge of the wrestling competition, said four teams from the centre and district participated in these competitions.
He said wrestling and other traditional competitions were held in the province every year.
According to Haji Shokrullah wrestling was held to welcome the spring season and most wrestlers participating in the competition hailed from the Shaghnan region.
