KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Saturday promised a huge water project would be inaugurated soon.
At an event marking Farmers’ Day in Kabul, Baradar said with the inauguration of the scheme, half of Afghanistan’s farmlands would be irrigated.
Without providing further information about the project, the deputy prime minister said agriculture played a vital role in improving a country’s economic situation.
He added building water dams, canals and greenhouses, as well as supporting farmers, was the government’s priority.
The government was striving to facilitate export of agricultural productions of the countrymen, he added.
Baradar called on businesspeople to make investments within the country instead of doing business abroad and help implement key projects.
