MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Disaster Management on Sunday distributed food and liquefied gas in aid to 1,000 needy families in Maimana, the capital of northwestern Faryab province.

Mulavi Sharafuddin Musleh, deputy disaster management minister, traveled to Maimana to distribute the materials to needy families.

He said that the aid included a bag of 49 kilograms of flour, four kilograms of pulses and five kilograms of liquefied gas to each needy family.

People in Faryab are in dire need of help and the issue has been shared with officials in Kabul to raise more aid to these people, he said.

He also talked about the preparations for emergencies and natural disasters and said that many people in Faryab needed urgent assistance.

Musleh hoped the international community would recognize the caretaker government of Afghanistan as it would help resolve the current economic crisis in the country.
